Resumen

Descripción

In 2016 and 2017, Sri Lanka experienced a widespread drought that severely affected the cultivation of rice and non-rice food crops. The supply of quality other field crop (OFC) seeds were difficult to procure, and their price increased. Additionally, farmers in the most drought-affected areas suffered from the inability to irrigate, which was compounded by a lack of farmer awareness about efficient on-farm and household water conservation and water utilization. This emergency project was implemented to benefit 10 500 drought-affected, vulnerable households by increasing their ability to cultivate and improving food and income security throughout the country.
