The guide provides clear, relevant information on the identification, symptoms, and economic impacts of major pests and diseases affecting traditional leafy vegetables and spice crops, and promotes affordable, eco-friendly, and nature-positive management options, drawing on field experience from Western Kenya (particularly in Kisumu County) and research-validated agroecological strategies, including cultural practices, biological control, and home-made botanical pesticides. Overall, the manual supports knowledge transfer for farmer training and extension work. It offers adaptable, low-cost solutions that enhance crop health, improve vegetable production, strengthen food and nutrition security, and encourage the development of context-specific innovations based on local resources.
