This Learning Note explores co-design as an approach to social change that centers communities as producers of situated knowledge. Drawing on participatory, capability-based, andgender-transformative perspectives, it presents co-design as a collective process that redistributes power, strengthens local agency, and supports adaptive decision-making. The note reflects on the implications of this shift for technical practice and institutional approaches to sustainability and long-term change.
