Resumen
Descripción
The BREFFONS project aims to enhance food security and infrastructure resilience in Northern Bahr El-Ghazal, South Sudan, by establishing a Seed Center and Research Center at the Aweil Rice Scheme. These developments are expected to lower transaction costs and promote the use of domestically preferred grains. To ensure environmental and social sustainability, an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) was conducted. The ESIA study, covering approximately 420 hectares, evaluated the baseline biophysical and socio-economic conditions, identified potential environmental and social impacts, and proposed mitigation measures. The report also outlines an environmental management and monitoring plan to guide the sustainable implementation of the project.
