One of the constraints identified in the rapidly expanding aquaculture industry of the Southeast Asian region is the lack of skilled resource personnel in fish health. The implimentation and management of fish quarantine and health extention services is dependant on the availability of specialists in fish health. The programme was offered as an attempt to meet present and future requirement for specialist fish health workers in government and private sectors. Throughout the programme emphasis wa s laid on the aetiology, epizootiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of health problems affecting commonly cultured tropical food fishes.
