Over the years abundance of fish and access to deep-sea fishing grounds has changed considerably. In 1998, about 61,000 tonnes were landed in the UK by UK vessels, only 18% of the averag e landings from 1947 to 1966. The value was £78 million, roughly 3 times the value of landings in 1966. | |
