Descripción
Provides background and general information on cod including common names, scientific names, distinguishing features, life history, fishery, chemical and physical composition, stowage rates, yields, processing factors, and storage life of products, with illustrations and tables giving useful facts and figures. Over the years abundance of fish and access to deep-sea fishing grounds has changed considerably. In 1998, about 61,000 tonnes were landed in the UK by UK vessels, only 18% of the averag e landings from 1947 to 1966. The value was £78 million, roughly 3 times the value of landings in 1966.
