Descripción
Through the generous support of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), FAO is collaborating with the General Organization for Seed Multiplication (GOSM), the General Commission for Scientific Agricultural Research (GCSAR) and the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) to implement seed system restoration in the Syrian Arab Republic. The focus is on building the technical capacities of research and implementation stakeholders, rehabilitating relevant infrastructure and facilities, reviving seed production, reconnecting breeding and research capacity with field operations for this purpose. To prioritize and determine the interventions and support required, a national technical team, under the supervision and technical support of the FAO experts, assessed the damage to the seed system in the Syrian Arab Republic and identified the requirements, interventions and priorities that are included in this report.
