As part of the Elevate programme, the Mountain Partnership Secretariat (MPS) developed a hydroponic school project. This publication is a practical guide for students, introducing hydroponic systems, the necessary equipment and the nutritional benefits of hydroponically grown plants. It also highlights the importance of sustainable food production for healthier diets and more resilient communities. The publication contributes to the objectives of the Elevate programme and supports FAO’s Strategic Objectives on sustainable agriculture, food security and nutrition. By targeting students, it raises awareness and builds knowledge among younger generations through an accessible and hands-on approach. Expected results include increased understanding of hydroponics and stronger interest in sustainable agriculture.
