| dc.description | Rapid population growth and uncontrolled logging left the forest sector in the Philippines in a poor state in the nineties. Devolution of forest related rights and efforts to expand forest protection have had positive effects on the sector but many challenges remain in managing the country's forests including effectively engaging the private sector, involving local government units in forestry, and passing legislation supportive of SFM. | |
