This survey supports a mixed method research to understand motivations of farmers to engage voluntarily as on-farm researchers in tricot, a citizen science inspired approach for on-farm testing of new varieties. Main research questions was what are the main factors explaining motivation to participate in on-farm testing? And what is the role of the lead farmer in the motivational factors? Methodology:In Rwanda, we collaborated with IITA and One Acre Fund. We did the survey among farmers who have participated in tricot trials with One Acre Fund in seven districts: Gakenke, Rutsiro, Karongi, Burera, Bugesera, Kayonza, and Huye. The survey was done in Kinyarwanda. We used ODK and tablets, and the survey was done with the support of six enumerators.
