dc.descriptionThe Special Ministerial Conference on Agriculture in Small Island Developing States was held in Rome, Italy, 12 March 1999, as a follow-up to the 1996 World Food Summit. This Conference resulted in a Ministerial Declaration on Agriculture in Small Island Developing States which led to the adoption, by the 116th Session of the FAO Council, of a Plan of Action on Agriculture in Small Island Developing States. This Plan of Action constitutes the basis for coherent interventions by FAO, the internat ional community and island countries. The present document contains the Ministerial Declaration, the Plan of Action on Agriculture in Small Island Developing States and the three background documents of this Conference.
