Resumen

Descripción

This regional project supported sustainable water policy with a focus on the agrifood sector in Central Asian states (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) as well as Azerbaijan and Türkiye. The project responded to a context in which water resources are limited and under growing pressure due to industrialization and climate change, resulting in impacts including decreasing water availability for agrifood systems. The project analysed existing relevant policies and water governance in the region, taking into account reforms already initiated by all countries. Working at both the national and regional level across these seven countries, it aimed to support policy development and implementation, enhance gender mainstreaming in water management and governance structures within the agrifood sector, analyse related agricultural extension services, and develop a regional network as a platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange.
