dc.descriptionThis report presents the findings of phase I of the study, which provides a descriptive and quantitative analysis of the current status of CGPRT crops and identifies the constraints faced in developing diverse agriculture in Sri Lanka. Assessing the socio-economic impacts of recent developments in Sri Lanka, including trade liberalization on the production of CGPRT crops, and the identification of constraints and opportunities towards the sustainable development of diverse agriculture for poverty alleviation was the primary objective of this study. Ten major CGPRT crops grown in Sri Lanka were studied in detail in relevance to agricultural diversification and poverty alleviation. Key Words: diversification, food crops, agriculture, poverty
