dc.descriptionLao PDR is the most sparsely populated country in South East Asia with a recorded population of 4.58million in 1995. The population is predominantly young (45 % under 15 years of age), the annualpopulation growth rate is 2.6percent and the population is projected to double within three decades. Thelife expectancy at birth is 53 years for females and 50 years for male (UNICEF, 1996).
