dc.descriptionThe Quadripartite Guidance on One Health Integrated Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and Use (AMU) provides a framework for AMR and AMU surveillance across human, animal, plant, and environmental sectors. Developed by the Quadripartite organizations (FAO, UNEP, WHO, and WOAH), it supports a coordinated One Health approach and aligns with global priorities and commitments to combat AMR. The guidance offers direction on designing surveillance systems based on specific objectives, available resources, and national contexts, allowing for comparability of findings at national and international levels. It covers data collection, sampling strategies, common surveillance targets, laboratory and epidemiological requirements, and methods for integrated data analysis and communication. The Guidance focuses on AMR and AMU in at least two sectors, which have wide-reaching impacts on health, productivity, food security, and ecosystems. This guidance is a foundational resource for implementing One Health integrated surveillance of AMR and AMU at national, regional, and global levels. Designed as a living document, it will evolve with emerging evidence, especially in underrepresented sectors. It will be supplemented with technical implementation documents to help countries establish context-specific integrated surveillance systems.
