his work marks substantial progress toward broader innovation goals in plant health surveillance and
management. By generating detailed maps of RYMV variant distribution, integrating genetic profiles into regional
databases, and visualizing hotspots, the study lays the groundwork for advanced, data-driven early warning
systems. These efforts directly support the development of real-time surveillance platforms, inform the design of
rapid diagnostic tools, and guide targeted interventions, bringing Africa’s rice sector closer to resilient,
coordinated, and proactive management of RYMV disease threats.
