dc.descriptionThe relationship between farmer members and their cooperatives is unique, a combination of contract, business, and membership interests. Cooperatives may have occasion to terminate the relationship by expelling a member. This article explore legal authority of cooperatives to expel members, conditions under which expulsion is an acceptable action by cooperatives, and legal consequences of improper expulsion are described, and procedures are suggested to protect member and cooperative interests when expulsion is necessary.
