A brief historical analysis of the agricultural sector is presented together with the efforts in technology generation and transfer in Latin American and Caribbean countries. It also presents reflections on a proposal for technology generation and transfer for Caribbean countries. Reference is then made to the implementation of technology generation and transfer for the Caribbean countries, and menthions limitations and opportunities. Finally, technology generation and transfer in Suriname since 1903 is described.
