Descripción
The triple burden of malnutrition (undernutrition, rising obesity and micronutrient deficiencies) facing the United Republic of Tanzania poses serious threats to the health and economic stability of the country’s population. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated these issues by disrupting food production and distribution systems, impacting smallholder farmers and altering the dietary behaviour of consumers. The project was highly relevant to addressing the country’s pressing challenges related to malnutrition food insecurity, and the impacts of the pandemic on agriculture and food systems. This initiative was part of the European Union-funded AGRI-CONNECT flagship programme, which was implemented in the United Republic of Tanzania from October 2021 to August 2024.
