dc.descriptionEl arroz es uno de los tres alimentos básicos más importantes a nivel mundial. En América, su producción ha sido afectada por el virus de la hoja blanca (RHBV), enfermedad viral más importante del continente. En esta investigación se estudió la resistencia en nueve variedades de arroz venezolanas al RHBV considerando sus reacciones fenotípicas, variabilidad genética basada en microsatélites así como la asociación entre dichas variables, el desarrollo y evaluación de dos poblaciones con "Fundarroz PN-1" como donador de resistencia y la clonación de un gen candidato de resistencia en "Fundarroz PN-1" y "Centauro". Rice belongs to the three most important staple food crops worlwide. In the Americas, rice production is being affected by the rice hoja blanca virus (RHBV), the most important viral disease on the continent. The objective of this research project was to study the resistance of nine venezuelan rice varieties to RHBV, considering their phenotypic reactions, genetic variability based on microsatellites, as well as the association between these two variables, the development and evaluation of two populations with "Fundarroz PN-1" as donor parent for RHBV resistance, and the cloning of one candidate resistance gene in both "Fundarroz PN-1" and "Centauro"
