The findings are presented of a study conducted to investigate the fish bycatch of the shrimp fisheries of Madagascar and possible means of their exploitation. Of the 21,000 tons of fish caught by the shrimp trawlers, only 5,000 tons are commercialized, and 15,000 tons which could be commercialized are processes for animal feed. Alternative means of utilizing this proportion of bycatch are examined.
