Following an account of the marine environment of Mauritius, details are given of the artisanal and banks fisheries. Fish marketing and distribution by the Fishermen's Cooperative Federation Ltd., and by middlemen are described, and an outline given of fishery statistics system in use. The role played by the Albion Fisheries Research Centre in fisheries research is also examined.
