Resumen
Descripción
This document, being the first of three reports, deals with the present status of the fishery in the area, methods of fishing, the distribution of the one or more species occurring, a description of the general topography and climate and an assessment of the coastal zones with particular reference to the ecological associations of spiny lobster species. Preliminary recommendations directed towards the more immediate needs of each territory are given, supplemented by an account of other observati ons and activities indirectly related to Pacific fisheries development. The term "lobster” will be used throughout the report and is synonymous with marine crayfish, spiny lobster, rock lobster, reef lobster, all of which are common names generally applied to the genus Panulirus in the Indo-west Pacific region.
