dc.descriptionAs the UN agency mandated to take responsibility for development of the livestock sector, FAO has a unique role to play in this increasingly complex environment. However, simple provision of technologies no longer has a major impact in many countries and identifying appropriate interventions requires the monitoring of global trends, identification of the most appropriate institutional frameworks and assessment of the implications of policies, all of which require trans-sectoral knowledge.
