dc.descriptionThe Family Farming Initiative (FFI), developed under the UNDFF framework, builds on the premise that appropriate investment, policies and programmes are needed to support family farming as a concrete way to achieve national SDG targets and indicators. The FFI will help countries to: improve family farming policies, programmes and investments while targeting the SDGs; enhance the capacity of producer organizations and improve farmers’ access to agricultural assets, market opportunities and public services; make food systems sustainable through innovation, better productivity and local markets; foster adaptation to climate change, the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of natural resources; and enable smooth generational renewal and gender equality in family farming. It will support the drafting of NAPs and promote investments and field projects in tandem with farmers’ organizations and communities. The FFI will enable countries to take stock of the contribution of family farming to their national economies and environmental sustainability. It will foster strategic investments and programmes through innovative partnerships between governments, farmer organizations, financial institutions, resource partners and the private sector.
