This Bibliography represents an attempt to list studies on soils and other subjects of importance for the appraisal of environmental conditions determining the potential for agricultural development in Latin America. The list is only a first draft for circulation, with the object of inviting criticism, amendments and additions to help in preparing a published edition which will undoubtedly include many references which may have been omitted in this draft. It is hoped that this final version will be useful for students of Latin American environmental potentialities. The comprehensiveness of this Bibliography will depend very much on the co-operation of specialists in Latin America, many of whom have already given valuable information towards the compilation of the present draft.
