This illustrated field guide to trees commonly cultivated in Southeast Asia provides a popular identification tool for the many tree species that play important roles in the lives of millions of people all over Southeast Asia. The book is designed to enable the identification of the most common trees that are likely to be encountered in the rural areas of Southeast Asia, including Myanmar, Lao PDR, Thailand, Cambodia, Viet Nam, China (southern part), Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei and th e Philippines. The guide is not intended to be comprehensive. The tree species selected are those that are most widely cultivated on and around farms, in plantations and along roads and canals within the tropical or subtropical areas of at least one of the countries of Southeast Asia. Each tree species is illustrated using colour plates. Species synonyms, local names, major uses, ecology and distribution, key characteristics and key references are provided.
