Resumen

Descripción

This issue of the Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts (ASFA) magazine has a regional focus on Africa and features contributions from ASFA Partners in Benin, Guinea, Kenya, Nigeria, Tunisia and Uganda. For almost fifty years, the ASFA Partnership has worked to promote and disseminate aquatic science, fisheries and aquaculture research and this issue highlights the work of institutions in Africa to achieve this goal. A broad range of information management activities and projects being undertaken by ASFA Partner institutions is presented - from discussing the impact and use of the ASFA database in Benin, Guinea and Nigeria, to programmes such as the SureFISH consortium, to assist fish traceability and authenticity, and the Ocean InfoHub, a new initiative to streamline access to ocean science data and information for management and sustainable development. The impact of COVID-19 is felt across the world, and its impact on continuing aquatic science research in Africa during this time is concisely presented.
