dc.descriptionThis report provides a candid assessment of the state of Forestry Genetic Resources (FGR) within the Republic of Tajikistan up to January 1st 2011. Forestry in Tajikistan is an important component of the natural resource potential of the country and plays a special role in dealing with the prevention of desertification and the conservation of biological diversity and in the broader context of global climate change on our planet. The Republic of Tajikistan is a forest poor country, along with oth er countries of Central Asia, with only 3% of the territory covered with forest. This equates to slightly more than 0.05 hectares of planted forests goes per capita in the country.
