Information on rice land area is required to monitor food security indicators and provide information on access to water, rice cropping intensities and more. Rice land extent for eastern Bhutan was mapped by training a machine learning model and classifying satellite imageries (Planet, Sentinel–1) in GEE. These datasets were prepared in the context of GEF–8 projects. The main aim of the GEF–8 project is to transform rice fields to improve the region's food security.
