Using the Agricultural Census of 2007, a Multivariate Probit analysis was conducted to evaluate the relationship between the agricultural credit users of the V, VI and Metropolitan regions and the different types of institutions that offer, somehow, agricultural funds and determine a possible segmentation of the credit market in Central Chile. The results suggest that, although only 23.5% of the study population reported having used some type of credit instrument, there is a level of segmentation in the profile of users that they prioritize, forming two main groups of institutions: 1. INDAP and Banco Estado, and 2. Other private banks and the suppliers of agricultural inputs and horticultural fruit exporters.
