However, it also represents a major source of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. China’s 14th Five-Year Development Plan (2021-2025) aimed to enhance the endeavours of rural vitalization, featuring green, low-carbon and circular development in the agriculture sector, including animal husbandry. With its unique natural resources and solid industrial foundation, Yunnan Province has innate advantages for the high-quality development of animal husbandry. Yunnan is rich in livestock and poultry genetic resources, accounting for 7.6 percent of the country’s total, and ranking first place in the country. At the end of the 13th Five-Year Plan period in 2020, the total meat output of Yunnan Province was 4.17 million tonnes, ranking sixth in China.
