This study was carried out in two farms of the county of Uruará, Pará state, located at the Transamazônica highway. Soil porosity (transmission pore, storage pore and residual pore) of a "Podzolico-vermelho-amarelo" - PVA (Ultisol) and a 'Terra Roxa Estruturada" - TRE (Alfisol) under plots of Brachiara brizantha (BB-4219) grass and Panicum maximum (PM-4739) grass were determined at 0-7 and 7-14cm. The grass plots were established at february 1994. The soils showed different pore distribution. TRE showed lower storage pore volume than PV A in the topsoil. The BB4219 grass showed a increasing of storage pore volume in the topsoils.
