The 16th session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF16), will be held virtually on 26-30 April 2021, New York. This flyer presents the input of FAO to the UNFF16 session and side events with FAO involvement. This flyer is produced to inform permanent representatives and delegates about FAO’s contribution to the UNFF16 session.
UNFF is composed of all Member States of the United Nations and specialized agencies. It was established in 2000 by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) as a subsidiary body with the main objective to promote the management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests and to strengthen long-term political commitment to this end. On 27 April 2017, the UN General Assembly adopted the first ever UN Strategic Plan for Forests 2017-2030.
