The New Bird’s Nest suggests an alternative approach to wooden house construction that like a bird’s nest is built together with a tree. The design will reduce the impact on forests while still relying on wood as a building material. The house is raised off the ground and is fixed to a tree at one end and a cantilever on the other.</p> This poster is one of a selection of entries from the TREEHOUSING International Wood Design Competition that was run by FAO and DBR | Design Build Research School on the occasion of the XIV World Forestry Congress in Durban, South Africa, in September 2015.The competition challenged architecture students, professional architects and designers to develop innovative and sustainable wood housing and urban building solutions.
