Maranhão state is one of the diversification centers of cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.), as well as the first in climatic and soil conditions suitable for cashew cultivation in the Northeast. However, information about the occurrence of pests in the state is virtually nonexistent. Therefore, surveys on the occurrence of pests constitute basic information for cashew culture in this region. This study aimed to identify the prevalent pests in the Alto Mearim microregion, to characterize the recommended clones in terms of reactions to major pests and to raise the effects of different cropping systems on occurrence.
