| dc.description | Weather and climate information is essential to production, resilience and preparedness in the agriculture sector. Projections and early-warning systems can help countries prepare for extreme weather and adapt to climate change, assist with national farm planning, disaster risk reduction and the prioritization of climate investment in agriculture. FAO has developed a cutting-edge programme to harness advancements in climate services and transform national climate information systems. The programme will build on FAO’s agro-meteorological information. Investing in the most advanced open software and developing local data capacity and tools will lead to improved and informed decision-making and real-time farmer advisory services. The programme will reduce the adverse impact of climate change and extreme weather events on agricultural productivity. | |
