Descripción

Climate change, inequalities, inflation, political unrest and conflict are hampering global efforts to end poverty and to promote economic opportunities for all. These interlinked challenges are particularly acute in rural areas, where poverty rates are three times higher than in urban areas. New challenges to entrenched rural poverty demand novel, innovative and scalable solutions. Identifying effective responses to the increasing vulnerabilities requires investments in knowledge and evidence-generation on which solutions work, when do they work and for whom. Investing in rigorous socio-economic evidence is essential for guiding investments, policies and programmes toward priority actions that have measurable and cost-effective impacts in a rapidly changing world. Disaggregated data is crucial to developing solutions that effectively target those facing exclusion towards more inclusive rural transformation.
