The PROCISUR cooperative research programme is an agreement among Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uraguay. This paper analyses its impact in terms of rates of return, based on an analysis of the programme as it affects productivity changes in wheat, maize, and soyabeans in the member countries since the inception of the programme in 1978. Computed rates are high according to international standards. The paper stresses the importance of international cooperation.
