Poultry production in Southeast Asia has been challenged by various animal disease threats including highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI, also referred to as ‘bird flu’), and other emerging zoonotic and transboundary animal diseases. To mitigate the risk, emergence and spread of new pandemic disease threats, the Food and
Agriculture Organization’s Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Diseases (FAO-ECTAD) in collaboration with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is implementing the project Evidence-Based Risk Management along the Livestock Production and Market Chain in the region. The project implementation began in 2017 in four countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN): Cambodia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR), Myanmar and Viet Nam.
