| dc.description | The Vegetable Irrigation for Climate Resilience (VICR) Toolkit is a free, open-access digital advisory platform developed by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) under the Under the Water, Climate Change and Resilience Strategic Program to support irrigated vegetable production in fragile and crisis-affected settings. Addressing a critical gap in humanitarian responses that often prioritize staple crops, the toolkit promotes nutrition, livelihoods and climate resilience through efficient, climate-smart irrigation practices. VICR provides humanitarian and development actors with decision-support tools across the full intervention cycle, including feasibility assessment, irrigation technology suitability and practical implementation guidance. Designed for low-connectivity environments and aligned with humanitarian standards, the platform supports context-sensitive, gender-responsive and sustainable interventions. Already deployed in Ethiopia and Mali, VICR is being scaled to additional countries including Ghana, Burkina Faso and Zambia, and new crops, with partnerships underway to expand its reach and impact across vulnerable regions affected by conflict, displacement and climate shocks. | |
