This FAO Tanzania Newsletter, June 2026 – Issue #1 covers updates that have happened in and around the Organization and its work in Tanzania for the first half of 2026. During this time, FAO has seen strong collaboration between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Government of Tanzania and partners in advancing sustainable agrifood systems, climate resilience and rural livelihoods across the country. A major highlight was the Africa Conference on Agricultural Systems and Adaptive Mechanization (ACSAM 2026), which brought together leaders and experts from across Africa and featured the launch of the Second Tanzania Agricultural Mechanization Strategy (TAMS II), reinforcing the country’s commitment to modern and inclusive agricultural transformation. FAO also supported South-South Cooperation through a high-level visit by a Philippines delegation to strengthen collaboration in agricultural mechanization. In the blue economy sector, the launch of the TanFishMarket Digital Platform (TANFISH) marked an important step toward sustainable fisheries development and improved livelihoods. Progress was also made on the clean cooking agenda through a high-level policy dialogue aimed at expanding access to clean energy solutions. Climate action gained momentum through restoration finance matchmaking initiatives and the launch of the Community Investment Facility (CFI), helping connect communities and financiers to scale up restoration and green enterprises.
