Wheat prices increased by 32% in August and continued to increase in September, reflecting world prices trend. Agricultural production has been affected by weather conditions and pests resulting in a lower output. Less than 5% of the population was estimated to be undernourished in 2005-07, based on the latest FAO figures which were released in September. The Government is implementing measures to support agricultural production through input distribution.
