The Regional Workshop on “Enhancing Climate Action in Agriculture in Europe and Central Asia,” held on 23–24 October 2025 in Istanbul, Türkiye and organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) brought together representatives from 15 programme countries to support preparations for COP30 negotiations and to strengthen climate action in agrifood systems across the region. The workshop examined key priorities for advancing resilient and low-emission agriculture, including the integration of the sector into Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), enhanced access to climate finance including carbon markets, disaster risk reduction, and the growing importance of addressing loss and damage. Special attention was given to the role of mountain ecosystems in climate adaptation and their heightened importance in global climate processes. The report summarizes the main outcomes and insights from the workshop discussions, which concluded with a shared commitment to deeper regional cooperation, capacity development, and knowledge exchange to accelerate ambitious, inclusive, and integrated climate action in the Europe and Central Asia region.
