The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in the Syrian Arab Republic monitors agricultural inputs and food commodity markets and releases the "Monthly Agricul-ture Input and Commodity Price Bulletin – AICPB" now in its fifth year of publication, which offers latest market information from 49 sub-districts across ten governorates of Al–Hasakeh, Deir–ez–Zor, Aleppo, Idleb, Hama, Tartous, Homs, Rural Damascus, Lattakia and Dar'a. The bulletin informs Food Security and Agricultural Livelihoods (FSAL) sector actors and other stakeholders on pricing of key agricultural inputs and food commodities. This regular publication provides essential analysis of prices, supply and demand market conditions, and other relevant market information. The main goal of the monthly bulletin is to enhance informed decision making across key agricultural value chains and food production systems by providing timely market information to stakeholders, particularly farmers, development and humanitarian actors, thereby improving their technical and productive knowledge and capacities and deeper understanding of market conditions. The bulletin expands their understanding of the local context making agricultural production – encompassing crop and animal husbandry, forestry, fisheries, and agro-processing more resilient, productive, sustainable, gender–sensitive and market–oriented. Smallholder farmers benefit from the disseminated market information by engaging in meaningful, market–oriented production activities.
