Following the three locust species — the Moroccan Locust (DMA), Italian Locust (CIT), and Asian Migratory Locust (LMI) — life cycles completion from mid-summer to early autumn 2025 in Caucasus and Central Asia (CCA), eggs remain in the soil in a state of embryonic diapause. Hatching of DMA could begin in early March in the southern parts of Central Asia, in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. No hatching of the other two species is anticipated anywhere in CCA before the end of March.
