Resumen

Descripción

This paper reports on the chemical composition of six samples of Musa finits and of dehydrated green banana flom analyzed with and without the skin The chemical composition of the flour suggested that this material could replace con in sations for animal feeding because of its similarity to coun The nutritive value of banana flour as a substitute for corn in rations for chickens was tested From the results of three separate trials, it was concluded that flours from green bananas were nutritionally better than those prepared from ripe bananas, and that green banana floms without skin are, in general, superior to those prepared with the skin The results also indicate that high levels of banana flours depress growth and significantly reduce feed efficiences. It was found, however, that green banana floms can replace up to 10% of the coin in rations for poultry without changes in weight gains or feed efficiencies.
