This document is the report of the sixth meeting of the Advisory Committee of the Bay of Bengal Programme for Small-Scale Fisheries Development, referred to in brief as the Bay of Bengal Programme (BOBP). The meeting was hosted by the Government of Sri Lanka and held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, December 1-5,1981. The report records the deliberations and conclusions of the meeting and was approved by the Committee. The report includes a summary of progress made by the Bay of Bengal Programme in 19 81, the third year of operation. It therefore serves as a source of reference to officials of fisheries agencies of the countries concerned and might also interest other institutions and individuals engaged in small-scale fisheries development, particularly in the Bay of Bengal region.
