The Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Information System (ASFIS) is an international, cooperative information system dealing with the science, technology and management relating to marine, brackish water and freshwater organisms and environments, including their socio-economic and legal aspects. The ASFIS Geographic Authority List has been developed as the authority for the preparation of geographic index-entries for the ASFA bibliographic database. The list was first published in 1974 and revised and reprinted in 1976, 1979 and 1985. This version supersedes all previous editions.
